Nurturing
The goal of our Christian Education Ministry is to provide instruction for the increase and growth in knowledge of biblical truths and the implementation and application of these truths in Christian living. In accordance with this goal, we have dedicated teachers committed to help you gain the knowledge and transfer it beyond the classroom into your daily life. As we struggle for our own understanding of God and meaning in our lives, we experience nurture from other class members.
Small groups also play an important part to deepen relationships with God, self and others. Establishing an active small group ministry is a top priority at Baptist Temple as we move into the future.
The American Baptist Women's Ministry is a large and important organization within Baptist Temple that enriches women of all ages with fellowship, study and service opportunities. Both at the monthly luncheon of the entire ABWM and in their several small groups (ABWM circles), Christian Nurture takes place in their lives.
Christian nurture is the process of being formed into the image of Christ for the sake of others. Baptist Temple seeks to aid this process by offering a vital ministry of Christian Education and a significant ministry of small groups. Pastor Johnson envisions an educational ministry that includes a large and adiverse Sunday School ministry to all ages and that introduces persons to the Christian faith and nurtures their Christian formation to be followers of Jesus Christ who are biblically literate for contemporary life and living out the Gospel in the world.
The Baptist Temple Book Group also provides a monthly gathering for adults inside and outside the Baptist Temple family. The participants read classic and contemporary fiction and nonfiction and bring the reflection insights of Christian spirituality and faith.
Our Nurturing Ministry includes Children and Youth from preschool through High School. In addition to our Sunday School classes, children and youth activities, some classes and activities are built around common ages and others intergenerational.
