Featuring

Chancel Choir

and Handbell Choir

LENTEN and EASTER SEASON of MUSIC

APRIL 6

A special cantata during the worship service April 6th, called The Body of Christ. It will focus on the actual body of Christ as the
bread and the wine, the body of Christ that was crucified and risen, and it will end with the realization that we, the church, go into the world as the body of Christ. Communion will be served as part of this musical offering.

APRIL 18

Good Friday service on Friday evening,
April 18th. It will be a Tenebrae Service (Service of Darkness) that will involve our choir, soloists, readers and congregation. This is a very creative and inspiring work and we are sure this will be meaningful to you during Holy Week.

APRIL 20

A Brass Quartet with be with us again on Easter Sunday, April 20th. There will be a new anthem for this special occasion that utilizes the brass quartet. The service will be filled with glorious sights and sounds and will lift your spirit to exclaim Alleluia!

CHOIR

The Chancel Choir leads the worship at 11:00 a.m. and allows singers to lift their voices in praise singing all styles of choral literature. Rehearses Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

HANDBELLS

Handbell players are intergenerational and practice as needed. We have five octaves of Schulmerich Handbells.

PIPE ORGANS

The Baptist Temple houses two fine pipe organs. The sanctuary houses a 48 rank Holtkamp organ built for the church’s centennial in 1969. The Chapel houses a four stop mechanical action instrument built by Bruce and Shari Shull in Charleston, WV (1977).

Visual Arts

In addition to the music ministry, Baptist Temple affirms other forms of art as worthy instruments for Christian witness and worship. There is always some type of art exhibit taking place in our building. Quilts, wood carvings, needlework, painting and visual creations often enhance the worship area.
